Fault: The dishwasher does not drain the water

If there are only a few centimeters of water in the container under the filter, there is no fault. A few inches of water at the bottom of the filter is perfectly normal. Larger amounts of water – which are in the very bottom of the dishwasher – on the other hand, indicate that the dishwasher has problems emptying out the water.

How to drain the water from the bottom of the dishwasher

If there is water in the bottom of the dishwasher, the water can be drained by removing the drain hose from where it is mounted – it will typically be under the sink. Lay the hose flat on the floor, so that the water runs out by itself.

Some dishwashers have a backflow preventer, in which case the above solution will not work unless you simultaneously tip the dishwasher backwards. This means that you have to tip the dishwasher backwards, at the same time as you have the hose lying flat on the floor. When you tip the dishwasher backwards, you “cheat” the backflow preventer.

Reason why the machine does not drain the water

  • The fault may be due to the drain hose being clogged. Remove the drain hose and clean it.
  • The fault may be due to the drain being clogged. Clean the drain with a drain cleaner to remove deposits.
  • The fault may be due to the bottom filter being clogged. Remove the bottom filter and clean it.
  • The fault may be due to foreign objects in the drain pump or that the drain pump is defective. Check for foreign objects and that the pump wing can rotate. If the pump wing cannot rotate, the pump is likely defective. Replace the drain pump. You can find a new drain pump here.
  • If the drain pump works but the dishwasher still does not pump out water, the fault may be due to the pressure switch being defective. You can find a new pressure switch for your dishwasher here.

  • Professional machine cleaner for dishwashers (500 ml)
Our professional machine cleaner for dishwashers is a specially developed product that helps remove limescale, grease and food residues from your machine. With regular use, you ensure that the dishwasher works optimally and lasts longer. The product helps achieve better washing results.

    Why use Professional Machine Cleaner?
Dish soap and similar detergents (e.g. gel or powder) ensure that your tableware is clean - but only as long as the dishwasher is clean. The more dirt, limescale and grease that settles inside the dishwasher, the more your washing results are affected. Perhaps you have experienced that your tableware smells, even though it has just been finished in the dishwasher - or that there is still dirt and food residue on it after you have finished washing. Your dishwasher needs to be cleaned in the same way as your crockery. Professional machine cleaning is designed to penetrate deep into machine parts and effectively remove these deposits.
