The washing machine drum does not spin

There can be various reasons why the washing machine drum does not spin. Firstly, see if you can turn the drum by hand – stick your hand into the drum and see if you can push it around. If you can, it is likely that the belt has broken or fallen off. In either case, you will need to replace the washing machine belt. Find a new belt for your washing machine here.

If the drum cannot be turned either by hand or when a program is started, it is probably due to a foreign object blocking the drum – e.g., a pen, a bra underwire or the like. Remove the belt and check for foreign objects.

If you find no foreign objects, it is possible that the fault is due to the bearings being worn and need to be replaced – in this case, the washing machine will probably have been making a lot of noise lately. You can find a new bearing set for your washing machine here.
