Washing machine ruining and making holes in clothes

If you find little holes in the laundry when you take it out of the washing machine, it may be due to one of the following:

  • Holes in clothing can occur if you are using stain remover when washing. You must be diligent and not leave the stain remover on the clothes for too long, as this could be what is causing the holes in the clothes. Always read the instruction label on the stain remover to avoid ruining your clothes.
  • Holes in clothes can occur if you are using bleach when washing your clothes. If the bleach is not completely dissolved once it comes into contact with the clothes it can sear holes in the clothes. Therefore – if you must use bleach – always poor it into the soap drawer of the washing machine, to try avoiding holes in your laundry.
  • Zippers tearing holes in the clothing when it spins around in the washing machine may also cause holes in the clothes. Trouser buttons are just as likely to cause holes in the clothes. You should therefore always ensure to button up buttons and zip up zippers.
  • Foreign objects in the drum and wash tub can cause holes in the clothes. These can be objects such as pens, bra under wires etc. You can remove foreign objects through the hole by the sump hose or through the hole in which the heating element is mounted – be especially aware that once you have removed the heating element to remove a foreign object, the heating element can be difficult or impossible to re-insert. On some machines it will be possible to remove the drum paddles, which are placed inside the drum, whereafter you may be able to remove any foreign objects. In some cases, the drum paddles are mounted on from the opposite side of the drum.
  • Silverfish or grit can cause holes in clothes. Grit inside the washing machine can cause holes in the clothes and silverfish can just as well cause holes in the clothes. Silverfish are little pests that thrive in dark and damp areas, which means that your washing machine provides their ideal living conditions. In lack of better food, silverfish will take small bites of your cotton clothes. When washed the hole will expand so you will end up with a hole of the size of a pin head. You can avoid silverfish in your washing machine by leaving the soap drawer slightly open, when the machine is not in use, this way you will decrease the moisture in the washing machine. It is also a good idea now and then to wash on higher temperatures; this will fight of both silverfish and an ill environment in the washing machine.
  • Holes in clothing can be caused by a defective door seal. The door seal is the rubber gasket, which is placed in-between the washing tub and the cabinet. If this is defective it can cause holes in the clothing. You should therefore check the door seal for wear and tear and ”rubber lint”. Even if you do not find wear and tear or ”rubber lint” the door seal may still be defective as these faults are not always visible. Should you find that the door seal is defective, we suggest that you replace it. You can find a new door seal here.

  • Professional machine cleaner for washing machines (500 ml)
Our professional machine wash for washing machines is a specially developed product that ensures effective cleaning of your washing machine. With regular use, this product can remove limescale, soap scum and accumulated dirt. The result is a clean and fresh machine that performs optimally and has a longer service life.

    Why use Professional Machine Cleaner?
Detergent ensures that your clothes are washed clean, but it does not ensure that the washing machine is kept clean. On the contrary, the detergent accumulates over time in your washing machine and can result in a smelly machine. It is therefore important that you occasionally use machine cleaners that clean the washing machine deeply and leave it clean and fragrant.

    Here's how to do it:
    1. Empty the washing machine of clothes.
    2. Pour 2 dl into the soap box. Run a program at 40°C without prewash.
    3. Repeat the process regularly, preferably once a month, to keep the machine in top shape.
