The washing machine takes a long time to drain the water

When the washing machine takes a long time to drain the water – maybe even to a degree where it seems that the washing machine has stopped the program completely or at the very least distinctly extended the program.

There can be several different reasons why the washing machine takes a long time to drain the water. Typically, however, this is due to a blockage somewhere.

  • Probable faultFilter

The filter may be defective or clogged, which may prevent water from passing freely. Therefore, clean the filter and replace it if necessary.

    Needed spare part

    Filter

You can replace the vast majority of spare parts in your washing machine yourself - including this one. Find filter here at Nettoparts.

  • Possible faultDrain hose

If cleaning the filter does not help, you should check the drain hose for blockages. Disconnect the drain hose and blow through it. If you feel resistance, there is probably a foreign object lodged. You can try to fish it out with a long thin object. If you can't get hold of the foreign object this way, you can try soaking the drain hose in lukewarm soapy water, after which you should be able to blow it out or fish it out.

  • Possible faultClogged drain

If neither cleaning the filter nor the drain hose solves the problem, it is also possible that the fault is due to a blockage in the drain itself. Clean the drain.

  • Professional descaler for dishwasher (1 kg)
I reality descaling the dishwasher really shouldn’t be necessary. The dishwasher softens (and hereby removes limestone) the water via the water softener.

Therefore: IF you need to descale the dishwasher, you should first check whether the salt level is set correctly.

Once limescale has build up in the dishwasher, you will need to descale it to remove the limescale build-up.

    Here's how you do it:
    1. Fill the detergent compartment
    2. Run an empty wash at high temperature
