Motor makes clicking sound

If your washing machine motor is making clicking noises, the cause will usually be one of the following:

• The carbon brushes are worn. If the carbon brushes are worn to a degree that the metal the carbon brush wire is cast in is exposed, the wire will touch the commutator, and this can cause the clicking sound. By removing the carbon brushes, you will easily be able to see if they are worn and the wire is exposed. You can find new carbon brushes for your washing machine here. • If the carbon brushes are not worn, the cause of the clicking noises may be that the commutator is faulty. There are some copper pads on the commutator and if one of these pads has lifted it can cause the clicking sound. A faulty commutator is unfortunately not a problem you can solve yourself, and you will instead have to contact an appliance repair professional.
